Jesus himself said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through me."   No one is good enough for heaven, because the standard is perfection.  Jesus is the only one who has never sinned.  "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"  So no one can make it to heaven by doing good deeds.  It is a myth that if your good deeds out weigh your bad deeds then you will make it into heaven.  NO.  The Bible says that no one can make it in to heaven by their good deeds.  If you have committed one sin you are not eligible for heaven.  So have you ever lied?  Have you ever stolen anything?  Have you ever been greedy or selfish?  Have you always loved God and not put anything else before him? 

So everyone is actually heading to hell for all eternity...Unless...  God intervenes.  And he did.  He came to earth as a man, Jesus.  And he allowed himself to be tortured and he suffered a horrible death for your sins and mine.  All the sins of all mankind from the beginning of time to the end of time were placed on Jesus on the cross.  "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that who ever believes on him will not perish, but have everlasting life."  John 3:16.  Jesus didn't stay dead, like all the other prophets and religious leaders, NO...on the third day he rose again from the dead.  Hundreds of people saw him.  Then he ascended into heaven and sent his Spirit to live inside of us and help us to live the kind of life God wants us to live.  God loves you so much and wants to have a relationship with you!  He provided the way.  He took the first step.  Now it is your turn.

Forgiveness of sins and eternal life doesn't come automatically.  We must turn to Jesus.  We must choose Jesus.  We must stop running our own life and give control to God.  And who better can guide our lives but the One who created us, who knows us even better than we know ourselves.  God has a plan for your life.  Trust Him.  He loves you so much and wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven, so much so he died for it. 

If you want to receive Jesus into your life and be forgiven of all your sins- no matter how horrible or how small- pray this prayer or one of your own.
"Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sin.  Thank you that Jesus took all the punishment for my wrong doings.  Now I believe in Jesus to take away all my sins and to make me clean on the inside.  I give up control of my life and I ask you to help me to change into the person you want me to be.  Thank you for your forgiveness and for the new life I am starting serving Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name AMEN
